The study begins with an examination of the evolution of the Baptist faith.  It depicts the eventual separation within the group between the Arminians and the Calvinists.  Out of the Arminian camp develop the Free Will Baptists.  The project analyzes the internal articulations and variations of the Free Will Baptists as well as their relationships to other Baptist groups.  Chapter two provides a methodology and a theory which accepts the doctrine of free will as the point of departure in the movement's theology. It proposes the thesis that it is possible to recount a congregation's history by listening to the preaching that occurred there. The project conducts a literary analysis of sermons preached in three Lutheran congregations in Northwest Ohio during a given year.  This analysis is laid alongside the descriptions of significant parish events in bulletins, newsletters and other written documents. The author used the Likert System to complete his analysis.  He gathered statistical performance data on 144 selected churches in four measurable areas: profession of faith, Sunday school attendance, worship attendance and financial support.  Pastors and church members completed a survey designed to measure leadership.  The author tabulated data and performed a statistical analysis.  The findings supported the hypothesis.  The closer a church moves toward the participative style of leadership the greater will be its measurable growth.  The study also revealed that the area of financial support was most effected by leadership style and profession of faith was least effected. It compares these prayers with the congregant's perceptions of the Church of the Nazarene's teachings on the doctrine of entire sanctification.  The purpose of the project is to analyze and evaluate the congregant's expectations and reactions to the comparison.  It uses the descriptive survey method of inquiry to gather data from the control group of the Grandview church and from a companion test group randomly selected from four other Nazarene churches in the Kansas City area. This project contains a section on 'The Review of Related Literature' which covers the doctrine and practice of entire sanctification which outlines what constitutes transgression in the life of those who claim the experience of entire sanctification or Christian perfection. For followers of Wesley the Bible is the Word of God in human words.  But, its purpose is not fundamentally to show contradiction between humans and God. Its fundamental purpose is to show how people may become God-like in this life.  The role of scripture is to encourage us to be Christ-like without denying the sinfulness of our nature apart from grace.  This ministry project develops a Bible study program which reflects a Wesleyan view of the nature and role of scripture. The author organizes people of the Nall Avenue congregation, who had responded to the invitation to study God's Word, into small groups. In a previous analysis of the congregation, we learned that our congregation was located in the area of Arlington which has the highest number of social problems.  We also learned that responding to human problems came out last on the scale of importance in our church life as it was perceived by our members.
