Psalms","Lutheran preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Lutherans have not traditionally preached on Psalm texts, preferring instead to use them as liturgical responses to other texts and themes.  Using a year-long sermon series based on the Psalms, the thesis shows that one can meaningfully tell the whole story of Jesus Christ as our faith is modeled to us in the Apostles Creed.  Such sermons also use the original search for meaning that each Psalm represents to help today's Christian community invoke God's presence in our joy and crises.  Parish feedback groups and processes indicate that the Psalms sermons provide new insights for lay ministry and spiritual development as well as for significant collegial involvement. Research has shown that older adults are helped by someone who asks questions about the past.  Loneliness and depression are common symptoms of older adults.  Without a feeling that life has had meaning in the past it is easy to lose identity and integrity.  Life review helps maintain a person's integrity, identity, and self-worth.  It provides a legacy to the younger generation.  It can help a person cope with loss, grief, and depression. The structure was drastically changed in 1972 from the traditional elders, deacons, and deaconesses to a cabinet of seventy. Since its inception, there have been no attempts to evaluate the new structure for effectiveness. These objectives were the recruitment of students, development of the project program, implementation of the program, and initiation of the codes by participants.
