The local church should be the center for counseling and the pastor should supervise the counseling ministries under his authority.  There should be training for counseling ministries and the gifts of the Spirit are an integral part of them.  Method of research was a technique centered study with a focus on methods, models and programs used in counseling.  There were interviews with pastors, professional counselors and lay counselors.  There was an analysis of the history of the psychiatric hospitals in America established by the Mennonite Church.  There were also many case studies done by the author.  Much of the counseling is being done by Mennonite professionals and is mostly secular in content.  Some counseling is done by lay persons one-on-one and in small groups. Some pastors do biblical counseling and there are some congregational counselors. My surveys, after analysis, determined the leadership expectations of the organization's parishioners and the pastors' knowledge of leadership pre- and post-seminar.  My research described situational leadership model and biblical principles of leadership.  I synthesized both models to achieve the 'synthetic leadership paradigm' and compared the situational leadership to Diokpara leadership legacy.  The project was taught in a seminar. The project for the study was an experiment in participatory preaching.  A control group selected from the congregation of the First Baptist Church (Elberton, Georgia) evaluated the effectiveness of four sermons preached at the church.  The sermons were examples of participatory preaching. It examines the use of persuasive techniques in the preaching of the prophets, Jesus, and Paul.  It examines the differences between positive persuasion, manipulation, and propaganda.  It reviews the process of intentional persuasion in preaching.  Two original sermons are presented, not as models, but as attempts to use the intentional processes recommended by the literature.  The sermons were evaluated by the author's congregation and reviewed by a listening group of nine members. The research project consists of eight parishioners' responses to six imagistic sermons. The researcher concludes that the use of image plays a significant role in the transformation of the hearers and the preacher.  He suggets that while the use of images is one key in the transformational process, opportunity for sermon reflection is also important. This has been done by surveying traditional (pre-boomer) missionaries and present-day boomers. Questionnaires were used to determine the differences and similarities between the identified influences and concerns that pre-boomer missionaries had and that present-day boomers have concerning missionary service. A group of young adults was brought together to model this reclaiming.  This was done through reading articles, watching movies, and especially through sharing the lives and stories of ordinary Barbadian folk.  The youth reported a tremendous awakening of themselves as spirtual beings. There was a greater sense of self-worth, especially relating from their inheritance as blacks. While theological belief is relatively high, active participation in churches is relatively low in this city (comparing national studies). The case study research method was utilized in this thesis to analyze the effectiveness of a non-denominational church planting (Christ's Church) in Amarillo, Texas to reach unchurched baby boomers.  It was determined that the church planting reached many in this target group and that it is an effective means of assimilating the unchurched into the Body of Christ. A caveat required this be accomplished with dignity.  The church was disconnected from its Christian heritage.  Canon's minister developed a medical ministry model.  The minister became physician and the congregation patient.  Preaching and pastoral care were used to recover the heritage and restore a sense of dignity.
