In order to accomplish the goals of this project, the project director researched the topic of leadership and identified various skills of servant leadership. From the skills identified, the director identified two and researched them further: 'the character of a servant leader' and 'the vision of a servant leader.' The project consisted of a leadership workshop made up of five one-hour sessions given over a perios of Friday evening through Saturday morning. The first session was an introduction to servant leadership. In sessions two and three, about the character of a servant leader, the focus was on the skills of humility, values, and integrity. The ten-week program consisted of a combination of group activity and lecture.  The group completed an open-ended narrative using selected vocabulary words.  Each member received five vocabulary words to contribute to the story line in successive group order using one word at a time. Lectures consisted of specific age-related topics of puberty. Descriptive survey methodology and statistical evaluations were used with an experimental and control group. The project began with the hypothesis that the congregation had an inadequate understanding of the purpose and function of the funeral service.  The congregation demonstrated the validity of the hypothesis after completing a congregational survey.  Eleven church members participated in a study of the funeral service as worship.  The study involved three sermons, five teaching sessions, and two workshop classes.
