The project director researched the field of new member assimilation. The research proved helpful as an annotated bibliography was developed with the various resources in the field of new member assimilation. The resources provided information for the construction of a list of best practices utilized in new member assimilation. The project director developed lesson plans and instructed the selected deacons on the key issues of new member assimilation. The selected deacons identified needs for the assimilation of new members into Bethel Baptist Church. The project director enlisted a field mentor, professional educator, and practitioner for the evaluation of different aspects of the project. The project director researched numerous sources in order to develop a six-session curriculum for teaching mentoring skills. Experts in the fields of mentoring and curriculum development reviewed the research and curriculum throughout the project. The project director equipped thirteen men at Ginger Creek Community Church to mentor future leaders. He held the workshop in the spring of 2010. The project director had three goals. First, the project director researched applicable material on personal evangelism. Particular attention was given to principles, problems, and the presentation of the personal evangelism encounter. Second, the project director developed curriculum to teach a series of lessons on personal evangelism. Six lessons were developed and administered over a three-week period. The lessons equipped deacons to engage in personal evangelism. Third the project director's presentation and content of lessons were evaluated at the conclusion of the project.
