The project director implemented the project with selected adult leaders in the Sunday school at Mount Zion Baptist Church who desired to increase their understanding and skills in using the four components of emotional intelligence. Before the six-session workshop, participants completed the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal [registered symbol] as a pretest and post-test. Workshop sessions explored the present need for emotional intelligence in ministry; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management as they relate to ministry. Selected resources available for training in Bible study teaching skills were compared and contrasted to develop the curriculum for training. The selected teachers received instruction and handouts to reinforce the instruction. The format for instruction was determined by the results of the research. Twenty-one teachers participated in the thirteen-week course of study. Evaluation exercises were used throughout the course.  The tools for evaluation included the following exercises:  question and answer activities, discussion groups, evaluation forms, and a post-test.
