The project director researched pertinent skills needed for effective cross-cultural mission work in order to prepare FBCG members for efficient service. Furthermore, this project led to the development of a curriculum that will be used to train and equip select FBCG members in cross-cultural mission skills. The project director's equipping of members is key for stronger impact and success in FBCG short-term mission trips. In addition to equipping FBCG members, the project director sought to accomplish two professional goals. The first goal was to increase the project director's knowledge of cross-cultural mission skills. The attainment of this goal guided the director in equipping individuals for more efficient cross-cultural service. The project director identified and enlisted students, ages thirteen to eighteen, who desired to enhance their understanding of discipleship skills and were active members of Airline Baptist Church. Using an equipping model, students were trained in basic discipleship skills and were then taught how to train other students. Students were trained in understanding their salvation and sharing their testimonies, reading Scripture within its context, studying the elements of prayer, serving in the local church, and equipping other students to do the same. The program director used research to develop teaching plans that were used in training the students. Evaluation of the project director's knowledge and effectiveness of the training occurred at the end of the training sessions. Second, the project director examined other models of associational strategy planning to synthesize best practices of associational strategy planning. Third, the project director facilitated a selected group of leaders from the District Eight Baptist Convention in developing a strategy for the convention.
