Eight weekly sessions were conducted involving twelve recent candidates for membership. Individual pre-training and post-training interviews with questionnaires were conducted to provide information as to any changes in interest, attitude and/or understanding of the meaning of church membership. Training sessions included a grounding in the six major dimensions of the Christian faith and the meaning of living the gospel.  Through this project it was not possible to determine whether the training process would or would not prevent these new members from becoming inactive.  The new members definitely increased their understanding of the faith. Interest and enthusiasm was engendered for more study of scripture and the mission of the church. Recognizing the mutual ministry of laity and clergy, a core group called the pastor's advisory committee (PAC) was formed to study, develop, and implement such a plan.  The aim of this project was threefold: to identify the problem of inactivity within the membership; to develop biblical/theological thought on inactivity; and to employ a pilot program to start the reassimilation process.
