The setting for this practicum is a 1200-member United Methodist Church in a county seat town of 25,000 in the Arkansas Delta. Using the structure as mandated by the Discipline of the United Methodist Church, a task force was formed and charged with creating the design and its implementation. The practicum was conducted over a six-month period with the task force meeting with the pastor for an extensive period of six weeks.  The task force, using a shared praxis approach, dealt with issues related to faith development for both preschool children and adults. In addition to conducting extensive biblical, historical, and doctrinal research, the student delivered weekly children's sermons over a four year period in consultation with a core of selected lay persons.
