The WCC presents lessons designed to amend sexist teachings with corrective love that enables one to care for and support another, but not at the loss of self.  The project tests the WCC in a diverse group of black Christian women assembled for five sessions exploring self-development, methods of building healthy bonds with other women, and investigation of sexism in the Scriptures, contemporary literature, and personal lives. This project describes programs offered at The Woman's Center of First United Methodist Church, Richardson, Texas.  The programs include methods of self exploration and sharing that enable women to feel affirmed, accepted and connected to themselves, each other and God. Reflection reveals that techniques and ideas influenced by Jungian psychology, a participatory leadership style, and a warm homelike environment cooperatively enable transformation.
