While working with divorced people the author discovered one theme that is common to nearly all divorce situations, the theme of loneliness.  To address the theme of loneliness he modeled his procedure after William B Ogleby Jr's book Biblical themes for pastoral care. Oglesby underscores the importance of using the biblical story to intersect life themes. The student developed the model and utilized it within a Christian context in seven weekly sessions of two hours each, and then concluded with a twenty-four hour retreat at a nearby facility. The purpose of the practicum was to provide a setting in which counseling skills would be improved and in which awareness of women's experiences would be increased.  The project provided an opportunity for reporting the practicum findings and incorporating this information into theological reflection.
