The thesis of the practicum is that the Cognitive model is an effective therapy orientation for utilization in ministry to couples. The seminars were conducted with a total of fourteen couples participating. The central focus is a workshop methodology which is progressive in design, content, and format, and is based on principles of androgogy.  The workshops give: 1) an experience of shared Christian praxis by using the theme 'coming to know God'; 2) a knowledge, practical understanding and an opportunity to use shared Christian praxis; 3) a demonstration of how the Sadlier Religion Program uses shared Christian praxis as a teaching-learning process in the K-8 curriculum; 4) a redefinition of shared Christian praxis which enables classroom religion teachers to use the process effectively. The workshops are designed to educate religion teachers in Catholic school religion programs and in parishes. The author interviewed 50 adult Africans to ascertain needs that may be met by an adult Christian education program in the church. The information was used to outline a curriculum for ministry to and with adults.  A unit on family life and ministry to single parent families was tested in a church setting.  Interviews and observations of the participants in the ministry evidenced emotional healing, acceptance of the reality of the disruption of their family life, and adjustment to single parenting. Appropriate training in this dimension of ministry will help them to relate better to parishioners on a variety of levels, to mainain objectivity as counselors and to avoid pitfalls in their counseling ministry.  One forum where pastoral counselng can be very helpful is the Roman Catholic Catechumenate, reinstituted by the Second Vatican Council. This present study describes the manner in which such a program was designed and executed in a local parish.
