The goal is equipping members of this church for evangelistic outreach. An assumption is that evangelism must draw its fundamental content and inspiration from the early community that gave birth to its initial efforts. I Peter is used as a paradigm for evangelistic strategy. Attention is given to the theological foundation for evangelism. This is compared to the theological emphasis that traditionally has driven Churches of Christ. The practicum was developed as a workshop on evangelism presented to leaders of a small group ministry in the Granbury Church of Christ. Shared praxis was the pedagogical method used. The main goal proved to be too ambitious for this task. However, it did succeed in inspiring and convicting these leaders of their evangelistic responsibility."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127293447372800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:41:37.175Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:02:48Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:40:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c784eb10-59b9-4df6-9f53-59461d4f2d6d","accessControl_ssim":["9aff9e15-30b2-4f58-a619-c7fd39fd5acb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A workshop process for lay leaders on conflict in the local church using insights from liberation theology, shared praxis and family systems"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:02:48Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:51:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["72f2cd14-f6cf-4582-b89d-bbcba320a6de"],"hasLease_ssim":["fc8fe3ef-3bcd-4b99-a002-e8bdb1376ff2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Elizabeth Box Price"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Sharon L Mook"],"keyword_tesim":["Family systems theory","Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Liberation theology","Workshops (Adult education)","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project demonstrates the usefulness of insights from liberation theology, Christian shared praxis, and family systems theory to develop a workshop: 1) to help participants think more in terms of systems; 2) to develop creative views of conflict; 3) to provide skills for dealing with conflict and effecting change. Lectio divina in its classic medieval, monastic form consisted of reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation of the Scriptures. The central focus is a workshop methodology which is progressive in design, content, and format, and is based on principles of androgogy. The workshops give: 1) an experience of shared Christian praxis by using the theme 'coming to know God'; 2) a knowledge, practical understanding and an opportunity to use shared Christian praxis; 3) a demonstration of how the Sadlier Religion Program uses shared Christian praxis as a teaching-learning process in the K-8 curriculum; 4) a redefinition of shared Christian praxis which enables classroom religion teachers to use the process effectively. The workshops are designed to educate religion teachers in Catholic school religion programs and in parishes.
