The purpose is to develop more precision in understanding the mission of the church and to provide a more systematic approach for accomplishing the mission founded upon the commissioning statements of our Lord, 'Go' and 'Follow me'.  An extensive training program for the development of the elders was established covering the areas of being called, history, teaching, flocking, prayer, creative listening, leadership, and gifts and talents.  The foundation undergirding this study was learning responsibility and accountability. The issue was the development of a resource which could aid staff members to work together in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.  United Methodism's 'quadrilateral court of appeal' was utilized as the hermeneutic, for those guidelines allow for variety in developing a teamwork style in ministry. Consideration was given to organizational theory and leadership styles.  The model involved a questionnaire for staff members and a workshop.
