The project thesis answered the question in the affirmative: 'Restorative Justice's Family Group Conferencing is a practice of shalom.' The project was to test the thesis. This was done in two ways: (1) by comparing the author's study of shalom with Family Group Conferencing, and (2) by a theological committee of shalom experts' evaluation of Family Group Conferencing. The shalom experts represented theologians from world religions where shalom is an important concept: Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Both the author's study and the theological committee's evaluation of Restorative Justice's Family Group Conferencing agreed that Family Group Conferencing is a practice of shalom. A six session seminar was conducted with ten lay persons.  Outside reading and journal keeping were required.  Counseling techniques were taught relating to listening, grief, depression and spiritual crisis.  The participants were involved in one-on-one practice sessions.
