The purpose is to develop more precision in understanding the mission of the church and to provide a more systematic approach for accomplishing the mission founded upon the commissioning statements of our Lord, 'Go' and 'Follow me'. An extensive training program for the development of the elders was established covering the areas of being called, history, teaching, flocking, prayer, creative listening, leadership, and gifts and talents. The foundation undergirding this study was learning responsibility and accountability. A mission statement was developed through a study group addressing four basic questions: 1) what is the church; 2) what is the function of the church; 3) what is the purpose of the church; and 4) what is the church's reason to be?"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715918205419520,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:54:08.020Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:54:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:30:55Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ba40cf4a-59ea-42be-989d-2619c3dd5258","accessControl_ssim":["2044c3e7-8c84-4b91-b358-c4862742f457"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church program analysis and planning in the light of Karl Barth's theology of the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:54:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:29:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9ff30c74-6527-42e0-98d2-09294494e3ec"],"hasLease_ssim":["f03dd039-4d2e-49fb-9a79-499c57d22420"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Richard T Tinker"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Barth, Karl, 1886-1968","Planning","Congregations","Mission of the church","Theology","Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["It is hypothesized that the theological contributions of Karl Barth on the nature and mission of the church would assist the local congregation in its task of program analysis and planning. The hypothesis was that through formation of a group named Order of Mission, its members would develop toward Christian maturity, and the congregation would assume a conscious stance of world involvement. The group was action-oriented, but also fulfilled functions of reflection, fellowship, and celebration. The model was AAAR: awareness, analysis, action, and reflection. The hypothesis was partially proven. Group members experienced deepened concern for mission, but the congregation did not show strong evidence of following this direction. The time span was apparently insufficient."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714996907671552,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:39:29.402Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:11:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:55:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9289ad57-c33f-4e4d-bc26-91526b11fa63","accessControl_ssim":["349365b5-e855-4cf9-a3b9-6e8ac76b6cbd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Before you build: a handbook of theological and liturgical considerations for mission, worship, and the meeting place"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:11:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:25:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e7ca5321-93b6-4485-b891-56a42485094e"],"hasLease_ssim":["0ffcdbc8-25b7-44e9-b400-19a3819534ac"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Harold E Hatt"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ronald B Clark"],"keyword_tesim":["Church and community"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Hoon, Paul Waitman, 1910-2000","United Methodist Church","Liturgics","Architecture","Salvation","Mission of the church","Church buildings"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project results from the author's long-standing concern about the assumptions of congregations beginning a building or remodeling program.
