He argues that alcoholics have only one hope: recognition of autonomous powerlessness over the problem and willingness to accept help from human others and Higher Other (Higher Power). The report discusses the arena for ministry and the author's methodology for interpreting the Letter to the Ephesians.  Included with the report is an exegesis and interpretation of Ephesians 1-3. This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations. The objectives of this project are threefold: 1) It is designed to create a biblically based hermeneutic that utilizes the guidelines of scripture, tradition, experience, and reason; 2) The Bethel Series and the Trinity Bible Studies are evaluated in the light of this hermeneutic.  The evaluation of these series involved the compiling and comparing of questionnaires administered to a class using The Bethel Series and one using the Trinity Bible Series.
