The hypothesis was that the laity of the church could develop a program to meet this need.  The model was a reflective-evaluative approach.  The hypothesis was proven correct. The guide also may be used in advance of death to provide survivors information about choices and preferences.  Case studies of twenty-five people who, within the last three years, were primary survivors responsible for making arrangements were the principal data sources.
