Research agencies such as the Search Institute have rated Lutherans lowest in the areas of faith maturity and growth in faith maturity among Protestant denominations.  Such studies indicate a lack of integration of faith understanding into holy living.  The author's thesis utilizes Martin Luther's formative approach to the catechism and Adrian van Kaam's formation science to facilitate the integration of belief and faith practice for Lutherans as well as other faith traditions.  The author has designed a six-week course to put this thesis into practice. The 'Parable of the Sower' model will help do this.  Process:  Students were exposed to biblical stories and reflected upon them in light of the fifth petition of the Lord's Prayer in connection with Jesus' post-resurrection appearance command (John 20:23).  Changes in their answers to the same questions before and after the process were evaluated. The author conducted a survey of Lutheran congregations in central Florida to test the theory that worship helps in the Sunday bulletin increases the comprehension of participants in the service.
