Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The 175-member Presbyterian congregation I serve has been deeply affected by the pandemic, the changing role of church in culture, and individual and communal losses. This project sought to equip them to begin to identify and name before God their own suffering, and that of others. My research was conducted in the context of a Lenten bible study, a prayer walk, interviews and a survey. Participants also created their own laments. John"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis explores how Canadian Salvation Army mothers in ministry who follow a rhythm of life experience an abiding relationship with Jesus that deepens a sense of abundance in life and ministry.  The thesis begins with exploring the social contexts of The Salvation Army, North American clergy, and working mothers. The thesis progresses to delve into John 15:1-17 and the historical examples of Susanna Wesley and Catherine Booth. The research methodology includes two Lenten-abiding groups and thirteen interviews. The project demonstrates that a better-informed theology of prayer results in a deepening of the spiritual practices of clergy and church leaders, allowing them to slow down and be involved in a faithful and sustained discipline. This helps them develop a deeper relationship with God. The author researched dynamic prayer in a group in which participants prayed daily for three months for God to reveal God's will for Clinton Church's ministries.  The author used participants' surveys and recorded experiences to evaluate God's work and spiritual growth through prayer.  The conclusion was that spiritual growth resulted in six individuals who became closer to God through dynamic prayer and gained a clearer understanding of ministry in their church. A complex statistical study involving the chi square was used to determine the accuracy of the thesis.  A testing procedure employing the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and the Spiritual Orientation Profile was administered to 100 lay people and 100 clergy persons and the personalities and prayer lives were examined.
