Psalms","Church work with prisoners","Spiritual healing","Chaplains"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation explores trauma informed spirituality in a correctional setting and aims to provide guidance for using creative writing as a way to interact with the Psalms and provide a healing tool for traumatized individuals in the carceral system. Through researching and developing a curriculum for use in correctional settings and through reflection on scripture, theological works, and the conversations and creative writing developed during the project, this study examines the church’s role in trauma healing. The findings of this study suggest that churches interested in robust engagement with traumatized populations are served well by exploring their own theology of parenthood, resilience, forgiveness, and most importantly, resurrection. Acts","Mission of the church","Storytelling"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The practice of Church mission engagement within a culture of specialization, individuality, and volunteerism has created the opportunity for the North American Protestant church to narrate mission through an identity and story of the individual. However, through the practice of reading scripture and reflecting alongside storytelling, a more robust missional identity can be found within the church. This identity through storytelling moves from viewing church members as an autonomous individual into seeing both church members and neighbors as necessary members of community, together participating in God’s mission in the world through companionship  with God and one another. This work moves from a historical background of mission work within a local congregation to then explore the theological basis for connecting storytelling alongside biblical engagement in congregational mission. The educational setting emphasizes storytelling and examination of domestic rituals.  Participants also created worship-centered rituals enacting these life themes.  The paper examines power relationships as sources of value, understanding and the ability to act.  It discusses ritual theory and practice.
