John"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis explores how Canadian Salvation Army mothers in ministry who follow a rhythm of life experience an abiding relationship with Jesus that deepens a sense of abundance in life and ministry.  The thesis begins with exploring the social contexts of The Salvation Army, North American clergy, and working mothers. The thesis progresses to delve into John 15:1-17 and the historical examples of Susanna Wesley and Catherine Booth. The research methodology includes two Lenten-abiding groups and thirteen interviews. Div. degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary from 1975-2000 (inclusive). The project had three main goals: 1) to determine the occupations of women graduates as of March 2002; 2) to determine how many graduates had left, or did not begin, professional ministry; 3) to understand and document the factors surrounding the graduates' decisions to leave or not begin ministry. Results indicated that 32% of subjects were not in active ministry. Except for rejection of females as staff leaders and their frustration in changing pastorates, attractive personality and competence are more important than gender. Inadequate knowledge of common staff dynamics, in which sex is but one factor, causes misunderstandings of their complexity.  To enhance harmony and mutuality during candidacy and in staff relationships, a discussion-starter is provided. A theoretical model of staff relationships is developed.
