The project demonstrates that the modernist view of the ego-self can be overcome on the level of human experience with the assistance of divine grace. The affliction and beauty reflected in short stories are the sources that mediate divine grace, and they aid the renunciation of the ego-self and lead human beings to focus attention on the world and the embodiment of God's love."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127451491893248,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:44:07.898Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:32:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:31:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1999689c-27bb-4034-948c-20a228da801f","accessControl_ssim":["a9db5f93-5559-4d45-a47a-38f24aa4ee39"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The promise of community: sharing life together in small groups at Anne Ashley Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:32:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:52:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2bea6362-0a71-4152-a212-9dd52da6b1d9"],"hasLease_ssim":["2603ddc9-0361-46e6-8e47-a74b6dae8e02"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott W Sunquist"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory D Golden"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theology, Practical","Small groups","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project describes the development of a small group ministry at Anne Ashley Memorial United Methodist Church. They cannot employ all the pastoral, spiritual, and emotional caregivers that are needed. The model in this project and paper expands upon the 'wholistic healing' of mind, body and spirit, using trained clergy and lay volunteers, recruited through community religious resources. Restructuring of a department of pastoral and spiritual care can offer Spirit-filled volunteers, encouragement, administrative support, training, and supervision. This benefits not only the health care provider but also the clients, their family, friends, staff personnel and the community they serve. There were different combinations of study and research used. They range from networking with other pastoral and spiritual care persons who work in medical facilities, reading some of the latest materials on what experienced persons in this discipline were researching, studying, and writing. Much of the project was also a result of 'on the job training,' drawing upon twenty-five years of background in pastoral, spiritual and emotional care. A conclusion reached is that clergy and lay volunteers, by reason of their baptism, are willing to assist health care providers in offering pastoral, spiritual and emotional care with patients and their families and staff personnel. Providing that health care systems assist in the recruitment, administrative support, training and supervision, wholistic healing can be a community resource."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127003879964673,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:37:01.022Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:32:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:41:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a10cd595-3314-4344-aa5e-fe4a517d9568","accessControl_ssim":["ca103442-c036-4e97-87f7-b7bfca3e5636"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Calvin's Institutes and the shaping of the pastoral mind"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:32:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:49:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e3cefde8-271e-4e50-b826-b5ac9284937a"],"hasLease_ssim":["6d23fac6-fb9b-4bdc-9fd9-974df957d87a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard Ray","Andrew Purves"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stephen M Wilson"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theology, Practical","Calvin, Jean, 1509-1564","Theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper reports an in-depth reading of and reflection of John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian religion, a classic exposition of Christian doctrine for training Ministers of Word and Sacrament.
