The researcher designed a four-week course on Jesus as High Priest, the Greek noun 'koinonia', the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. She conducted an ethnographic study of six participants who took the course. Three additional tracks were started beyond theology, including youth ministry, musicology and iconology. This facilitated a tremendous program growth, including in the number and percentage of women. Students volunteered to participate in a project that offered course and thesis support, counseling, fellowship and prayer. This was done via telephone, internet and standard mail. Surveys and numerous other contacts identified demographics as well as student ministry goals, program satisfaction and student stated program needs. The study concluded that student support services would enhance distance learning theological education. Visitation teams were trained to visit in the homes of the shut-in members of two churches in Central Pennsylvania.  These teams visited twelve members and took the Sacrament of Holy Communion to the people.  The results of our work revealed the 90% of the absent members were delighted to be visited, by the Lay Visitation Teams and to receive Communion. This thesis/project explores how pastors can help congregation members link their stories to the Biblical narrative so that they can deal more effectively with these issues. Using an ethnographic research method, interviews with twenty older adults were used as the foundation for refining the integration of grief and loss to the Biblical narrative. The answer a Christian gives to the problem of a loving God co-existing with the world's ills will necessarily affect his or her relationship with God. The research took place within five discussion groups; the researcher designed each session to cover one particular aspect of theodicy. Participants filled out questionnaires before and after each class. The researcher analyzed the differences between the pre- and post-class surveys.
