Using biblical insights, the project examines the sociocultural context in Japan, focusing on the influence of the current emperor system and ethnocentrism stemming from that system. Using resources from other authors, the author discusses: the relation between Christ and culture; how Chinese and Chinese culture are marginalized; the problems of assimilation, adaptation, and integration of the Chinese; and the Anglican Church's apathy toward multiculturalism. The author introduces his 'kaleidoscope' image as an alternative to the 'melting pot' or 'mosaic' models.
