The author researched the biblical and theological foundations that mandate assimilation while analyzing the sociological barriers and cultural trends that impede assimilation. based on that knowledge, he then developed and implemented a comprehensive assimilation strategy. The four-step assimilation strategy consists of attending New Orientation Class, joining a small group, completing Discover class, and getting involved through Servant By Design. While previous generations took religious affiliation for granted, the postwar generation shows significant differences with the preceding generations.  This fact became obvious when the postwar generation involvement with the church declined during their adolescence and early adulthood.  For this and other reasons, the postwar generation poses unique problems which an orientation must address. Toward this end five separate strategies were utilized: an eight-week prayer course for volunteers; three sermons; a restructuring of the Sunday morning worship service to include a stronger emphasis on the pastoral prayer; a restructuring of the Wednesday night prayer service to encourage mutual congregational intercession; and the initiation of a continuing prayer ministry in the church. The narrative approach to evangelism utilized an inductive presentation of scriptural and non-scriptural stories to prompt multi-dimensional conversion among hearers.  A twelve-member experimental group participated in training in the fall of 1989.  A twelve-member control group did not participate.  Pretest and posttest surveys and other instruments were used to evaluate the effects of training. Participants increased their understanding of the gospel as narrative and multi-dimensional conversion.
