Research into why people do or do not forgive was made through personal interviews, questionnaires and literature search. The family unit as a system was reviewed and three therapeutic counseling methods designed to bring forth forgiveness were examined. Data revealed realistic actions that can be taken to improve pastoral counseling and provide for healing among family members. The writer first researched Western models of marriage enrichment and gathered materials which were presented to an indigenous pilot group. This group tested and further developed materials which are culturally sensitive and suitable for use in Fiji.  The results of pre- and post-program evaluation instruments, administered to two marital and two control groups, indicated that the program positively affected the marriages of the participants. The research involved measuring three goals within families: time spent, frequency of faith activity, and attitudes regarding the spiritual condition of the home.  Following a six-week focus of preaching and teaching concerning domestic faith ritual usage, the ministry resulted in a positive increase in all goal areas.  Each of seven participating families demonstrated positive improvement in at least one of the three goals. The ministry was offered to a group of four infertile couples during eight group sessions for a total of twelve contact hours.  A pretest/posttest questionnaire was given to the couples. An eight-week training seminar, which focused on the development of certain healthy family traits, assisted the families in accomplishing this task.  These training sessions offered times for mutual support and dialogue among the families. The results of the project revealed that only slight growth was realized. An eight-week course for a group of fifteen parents was developed and implemented, covering such topics as communication, discipline, and faith development.  Pretests and posttests were administered to the group members.  The posttest results revealed increases in the awareness of some important factors for parents affected by divorce.  The responses showed especially favorable reactions to the relational aspect of the group.
