The thesis of the project was that members at Longview Point were trained to share their faith using a canned presentation but were not confident in answering objections. They needed a foundation in apologetics to engage people in prolonged spiritual conversations. Following a review of the New Testament emphasis on sound doctrine as related to church planting, and the IMB's current strategy for evangelism and church planting, an eight-hour doctrinal course was developed, implemented and tested over a 16-month period with positive results. With the rapid growth of Christianity in India there are no other alternatives but to equip the lay people for the work. Second, this project will suggest methods for church-based training programs for lay church planters. This study consists of understanding the purpose of a local church and also demonstrates a biblical foundation for church-based training for lay church planters. This study will also define the role of the pioneer workers as trainer. The authors also suggest methods on how to organize training program, including courses and subjects, which need to be taught. The destiny of India lies in the hands of lay people. The project grew out of questioning the policy of political neutrality as required by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention on behalf of its missionaries.  Case studies, literary research, and interviews conclude that political neutrality is impossible, unbiblical, and undesirable.  A symbolic model for social change was developed.  The Foreign Mission Board, as a result of this project, revised its policy on political neutrality.
