The importance of Old and New Testament settings, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in the cultural history of the Black Church, are examined in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 surveys the components that define a contemporary celebration in the Black Church. Chapter 4 examines the approach taken at the Evergreen Baptist Church and presents concepts of worship transformation. The primary task in this ministry setting is to increase the worshiper's understanding that congregational worship can be both structured and spontaneous.  The issue is not formality versus informality, but planned worship versus unplanned worship.  The research tools utilized in this project were congregational surveys and a structured interview. A worship planning committee was enlisted and trained to provide diverse worship services.  A questionnaire was developed to measure the congregational attitudes toward particular elements of worship. The conclusion included insights about present styles of worship prominent among Baptist churches. They were identified as the praise and worship, the liturgical, the traditional, the revivalist, and the seeker service.
