Chapter 1 outlines the purpose, goals, context, rationale, and research methodology.  Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundations for missions.  Texts were selected from the Old and New Testament to demonstrate God's mission mandate.  The doctrines of soteriology, ecclesiology, and eschatology were examined.  Chapter 3 discusses the historical foundation for missions with regard to specific individuals.  David Brainerd, William Carey, Adoniram Judson, Lottie Moon, and Annie Armstrong were presented as examples of those who laid the foundation for missions.  The International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board were presented as examples of specific Southern Baptist involvement in worldwide missions. Chapters 4 and 5 present the elements of the ministry project.  The focus groups are formed; a pre-test and post-test questionnaire are used to measure the effectiveness of the sermons. This process is based on the manual written by Charles Ridley, entitled How to select church planters: a self-study manual for recruiting, screening, interviewing and evaluating qualified church planters. Research in this project focused primarily on : (1) a careful review of the written assessment reports of more than 260 candidates; (2) administration of a written survey that was completed by the candidates which focused on the progress of their church plants; (3) a follow-up telephone survey and (4) a comparison of the results of the assessed candidates with a control group of forty planters who were not assessed but attempted to plant anyway. It provides a complete description of the methodology and the reasons certain methods were used to achieve the goals of the project. Chapter 4 includes principles and methods that have facilitated the sustained growth of an inner city church.  These transferable concepts can assist other churches' productivity. Chapter 5 provides an evaluation of accomplishments and remaining challenges. Chapter 1 traces the history of Hunter Street Baptist Church, goals, rationale, and limitations of the project.  Chapter 2 contains an overview of the biblical and theological aspects of 'church,' and uses the biblical image to springboard into a rationale for the purposes of the church, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment of Jesus Christ.  Chapter 3 looks at the mentor/mentoree relationship with the objective of healthy church growth training as an extension of the ministries of Hunter Street Baptist Church.  An analysis of the biblical guidelines for the mentor relationship is included in this chapter. Chapters 4 and 5 examine specific ministry focus and goals in the actual mentor/mentoree relationship offered to partner churches from Hunter Street Baptist Church.  Included are strategies to implement the development of healthy churches and growing congregations. Chapter 1 presented an overview that included three goals of cell group ministry, background information, definitions, and the research methodologies. Chapter 2 focused on biblical, theological, and historical foundations for cell groups. It described the role and perception of leadership in the functioning of the cell group. Chapter 3 addressed the social and psychological aspects of the cell group. It discussed the cell group meetings that are essential to Christian experience and growth in modern society: flexibility, mobility, inclusiveness, and effectiveness. The usefulness of cell groups in a cross-cultural setting is described in this chapter. Chapter 4 explained the procedures, program training, and equipping of cell leaders. The information obtained from Chapters 2 and 3 were applied to the program. Chapter 5 evaluated the plan, leaders, leader training program, teaching program, goals of this project, methods of this project, and the outcome of the cell group. Chapter 1 set the context for the ministry and how the project will be carried out. Chapter 2 established a sacred foundation for lay involvement in ministry. A case is made in chapter two using biblical, theological and historical arguments for the activity of the laity in ministry. Chapter 3 investigated the needs of the rapidly aging American population. A.H. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs was used to emphasize the person's needs. The chapter ends with a section of modern day churches who are ministering well in this area. Chapter 4 described the implementation of the project. A detailed discussion on the administering of group discussions is followed by a description of the course of study administered to the group. An evaluation of the project makes up chapter 5. From these findings some conclusions are drawn, as well as recommendations for the future ministry of Fruitland church, and other congregations as
