The polycentric model is where the 'mother' church and a cluster of one or more 'ethnic' churches operate separately on the same campus. Very few of these churches have transitioned to become truly multiracial and continue to either decline or plateau. This dissertation examines the history, underlying assumptions, possible influence, and effectiveness of polycentric churches, and provides a critique of such churches against a theological backdrop. The dissertation's goal is to educate and persuade racially homogeneous churches, in general, and polycentric churches, in particular, to consider transitioning toward multiracial congregations in order to achieve real church health and growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132589445087232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:05:47.832Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:21:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:04:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9388aba9-04b0-44c7-8e49-9059e7020139","accessControl_ssim":["0f7194ff-b862-4261-91cc-d84f054700e1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A plan for consolidation utilizing a zone concept: a guidebook for associational leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:21:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:27:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["24036411-d302-4102-9d0c-59bd8410cc95"],"hasLease_ssim":["59fcc170-4e1a-4be6-bafc-5e9438d5635f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Daniel J Morgan"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Texas"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Donald L Fawcett"],"keyword_tesim":["Southern Baptist Convention--Government"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church","Southern Baptist Convention","Planning","Social change"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis seeks to relate the assessment and restructuring of multiple associations comprising the Heart of Texas Baptist Area through consolidation utilizing a unique 'zone concept.' The thesis is that in contexts where Directors of Missions relate to multiple Baptist Associations this unique model offers increased opportunities and possibilities of enhanced ministry effectiveness and relevancy while maintaining the historic/geographic associational affinities. Chapter one includes a statement of the problem in the ministry context as a rationale for assessment and response. Chapter two seeks to demonstrate a workable strategic planning 'map' employed in the author's context with possible applications for associations considering consolidation. The map demonstrates how the theological and philosophical basis for the project was developed and implemented in the author's context. Chapter three provides preliminary analysis of the project application and leadership effectiveness with extrapolation concerning the future of the Heart of Texas Baptist Network based on the preliminary responses of constituents. The primary conviction of the author is that Baptist Associationalism stands at a time-critical juncture in light of quantum change impacting the world. This quantum change demands response from associational leaders. This project conveys the attempt of three associations to respond to these realities."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132535744364544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:04:56.619Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:21:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:53:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"339a4ab3-dad2-40f8-a3b5-977ee7af8535","accessControl_ssim":["e0fc6e7e-da43-47b9-a40d-74772fb0ddc1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Raising the bar in African-American churches: toward a missional ecclesiology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:21:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:37:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3212152b-b125-4975-9402-360698b909b1"],"hasLease_ssim":["c4a5033b-e48b-4d07-b850-9f8d4fa7dd4a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Daniel J Morgan"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ira E Antoine"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church","African American churches","Evangelistic work","Social change"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation provides a resource specially a book for African American churches that seek to be effective in reaching lost and unchurched in the twenty-first century.
