The project leader will present this course to both new and longstanding church members to enable each person to gain ownership of these accepted core values and gain understanding of how these values are carried out through the existing programs and strategies of the church.  This training course clearly sets forth each aspect of the church's adopted vision statement and the commonly accepted core values that are foundational to the ministries at Central Baptist Church.  Participants will discover the biblical foundations of these values. The program was conducted over an eight-week period with ten participants.  The author's position is that self-esteem, values, and behavior exist in an interactional relationship and that behavior which is consistent with positive values will produce healthy self-esteem. The goal of this project is to enable the church community to embrace biblical core values in the discovery of functional values which determine the vision for ministry in the local church. The project will involve the identification of core values on two levels of church leadership. First, the church staff will engage in the process of identifying core values in personal ministry as well as for the Christian community. Second, participants from the church body will be involved in identifying core values. The articulation of core values will lead to the development of a clearly defined vision for ministry. The project leader will lead the staff and congregation through the discovery process. The process will be accomplished through an off-campus retreat, seminar sessions, and a series of sermons on the biblical core values of Christian community.
