A Scale of Readiness was also developed to help identify the levels of readiness of the student prospects.  The project was used as a pilot project at the Arlington Chinese Baptist Church, co-sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  Eleven chapters, an introductory session, and two assimilation sessions comprise the project material.  The chapters were written to address frequently asked questions among Chinese students. Each group was age-graded and was no larger than fifteen members.  A facilitator and assistant guided group discussion in each meeting.  The curriculum consisted of thirteen messages--prepared from the book of Ephesians--which revolved around the deepening of relationships and building biblical church fellowship.  Sunday morning messages were further discussed within each home group, with the aid of discussion guides.  Each group discussed how the messages would positively and negatively affect the health of the church fellowship. Over thirteen weeks a focus team was introduced to postmodern practice and thought and Christian apologetics. They learned to reword fundamental Christian doctrines in common language and view representative media Christianly, so that points of contact could be identified between the media and Christian beliefs. A pretest and post-test gauged the focus team's growth in their understanding of postmodernism and apologetics. The project leader recruited seventeen postmodern-age church members to participate in the project.  After the participants were recruited, the project leader trained them to understand and embrace their role in the project.  This project leader demonstrated that a communal, relational connection with postmodern people provides a foundation for evangelism.  Targeting a local group of gated communities, the participants attempted to call the postmodern people in these properties and invite them to attend a community event.  A mailed invitation coincided with the personal call. At the community event, the participatns helped the guests fill out a registration for the prizes, invited them to a social event with friends that week, and invited them to join them at church the next Sunday.  Through various obstacles discussed in the project, this project leader discovered valuable principles for the evangelization of postmodern people. Sermons from the questions in Donald Whitney's book, 'Ten Questions to Diagnose Your Spiritual Health,' facilitated a climate of spiritual growth. The criteria for the selection was based on their suitability for teaching community values and relationships to young children.  The key moral values taught were love, kindness, caring, friendship, and sharing.  The five biblical stories were used as a center of interest when developing character and teaching values to the three to five-year-old preschoolers. Character education is easier to espouse in the abstract than to provide in the concrete.  So in writing the storytelling curriculum for character development, which I feel was successful, I tried to be as concrete as possible. This project will produce a textbook to be included in the twenty-four subject LEAD seminar curriculum which gives basic leadership training to mostly untrained, recently converted and called pastors, evangelists, and church planters.  The writer will teach the subject in selected seminar locations during the Fall 2002 semester in South Asia.
