The initial research and review was accomplished through interviews and pastoral as well as church input, and through biblical study and insight, the need for additional training was evident. As a result of this investigation, the conclusion was reached that the project leader would develop a six-month deacon leadership model. In summary, the goal of this project to assist prospective deacons in discovering their true ministerial calling was reached. Exercises in team building, goal setting, process mapping, surveys, brain-storm and planning sessions will be used with team members. Research and information from visits to observe other strategic enrollment management plans will provide valuable input. The project will not be complete without a plan for assessment and improvement on a routine basis. The long-term goal is for seminary administrators to approve of the strategic enrollment plan developed by the team and to allocate physical space and financial resources for a 'student services center' where the latest technological approaches to enrollment services can be utilized in a friendly, student centered atmosphere. However, very few church workers have opportunity to receive formal teaching about the truth of the gospel. As a result, the foundation of the faith of the believers becomes terribly weak and unstable. The goal of this project is to teach church workers in China the basic truth of the gospel in a Chinese context for personal evangelism. It will seek to contextualize the truth of the gospel with the unique characteristics of ancient Chinese written characters, which amazingly contain the stories of the gospel. Church workers will learn the knowledge and skills of utilizing a figurative and factual way to share the gospel with Chinese-contextualized messages. A high rate of pastoral turnover and geographic isolation necessitate the training of lay preachers to meet this need.  Lay preachers can be effective if they understand the communication patterns of the traditional/oral listeners who occupy these pews.  This project equipped a group of laymen from a large urban church to preach in the small rural churches of Oklahoma.  The laymen were trained to understand and appreciate biblical narrative.  they learned basic storytelling skills.  They worked to construct and deliver sermons that respected the traditional/oral communication keys of stories, relationships, and proverbial sayings.
