First Baptist Church (Henderson, Kentucky) heard a series of sermons on prayer and attended a prayer seminar.  In addition to these, a selected small group studied various aspects of private prayer during seven weekly meetings. The students will read collateral readings prior to each session, and interact with a reading-discussion guide which is designed to focus attention on the specific principles to be learned.  The project will be evaluated by means of a pre-test and a post-test, which will be given to those in the project group and a group of students of similar ability who will not engage in the project. The people who will find this project most beneficial will be young men in ministry who have not been able to attend a Christian college or seminary, men who are called to preach later in life, bi-vocational pastors, and laymen who have opportunity to preach occasionally.  A second group of people who will benefit is those to whom these men minister on a regular basis.  The project was accomplished by contracting with a group of about ten interested men to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for two-hour sessions. The mission support study sessions focused on biblical basis, historic Baptist patterns of mission support with emphasis on the formation and development of the Cooperative Program, current Southern Baptist patterns of mission support, and member input into developing the best current mission support method for Southern Baptists. The project was designed to utilize small study group instruction and proclamation to reach the stated goals.  The group learned Buddhist beliefs and the principles for Christian witnessing to the Buddhist as well as basic evangelistic skills. Seeing the need of reaching the unreached Asian Indians with the gospel, the author developed a cross-cultural relational evangelism program for training lay members to be effective witnesses for Christ.  The project consisted of eleven sessions.  The participants demonstrated their understanding of cross-cultural relational evangelism and Hinduism and other beliefs in the posttest.
