The initial church's understanding of Christ is encapsulated in passages scattered through the New Testament called Christological hymns. The project sought to discover whether a sermon series that unpacks and contextualizes the Christology found in these hymns will enhance college students' understanding of who Christ is, and why we serve him wholeheartedly. In the first section, the case for a Christ centered meta-narrative running through all of the scriptures is reviewed. Maintaining a Christ centered preaching focus keeps the primary agenda of the scriptures before the congregation. In the second section, the case for practical application is reviewed, with special attention given to application as a response to the Christ centered focus of a passage. The topic of spirituality was explored widely, and the gospels were read repeatedly to see how the spiritual life was stressed therein.  The disciplines highlighted were 1) Bible intake, 2) prayer, 3) fasting, 4) solitude, 5) submission, 6) worship/celebration, and 7) generosity.
