This project proposes an additional step in the movement from text to praxis via the intermediary of the theological focus for all types of literature, but especially for narrative. To test the effectiveness of this methodology, a five-part preaching series from the book of Ruth was evaluated to determine the model's effectiveness. This project sought to increase the effectiveness of teaching and preaching Hebrew narratives in the local church via a five week seminar to equip participants in discovering the central thrust of Old Testament narratives. Goals and objectives were established, relevant data gathered, analyzed from volunteers. An analysis of the data revealed notable improvements in the participants' overall effectiveness in teaching narrative. If the biblical writers purposefully used rhetorical devices in their writings, then it seems to be a preacher's obligation to deliver sermons incorporating literary devices. The Book of Esther was the focus of this study, and was analyzed and interpreted from the literary/rhetorical point of view. The author researched the premise that narrative preaching is the only way to effectively preach the gospel today.  He composed six sermons based on Daniel 1-6 and patterned them after the elements of narrative composition and careful exegesis of the text itself.  He explored the views of various authors pertaining to inspiration, authority of Scripture, and illumination on the hearer.
