Biblical truth must be articulated in understandable and applicable conceptual language.  The next generation of preachers are challenged to develop sermons that spiritually impact our contemporary audiences.  A brief comparison of the Postmodern and Enlightenment eras is followed by communication principles and guidelines regarding clarity and relevancy.  Selected Greek terms referring to the act of preaching and New Testament 'sermons' will provide insight into developing clear and relevant sermons. Currently, a postmodern culture and church often encourage the individual to reshape gospel, God, and self.  Self-denial, godliness, and submission are shunned for self-fulfillment, relief, and lordship.  To confront this worldview, a study of the attributes of God was administered to Christian students in their early twenties.
