Matthew","Missionaries--Training of of","Theological seminaries"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Changes in the world create new challenges and opportunities in the world of missions.Globalization has many positive aspects but can lead to increasing anti-West, anti-Christian, and nationalistic attitudes which make it difficult for Western Christians to live and serve as traditional missionaries in many countries.But ease of travel and communication allows people with professional education and skills to work anywhere; this is an opportunity for Christians to live and work and be a dynamic witness to Jesus in urban centers and marketplaces, the ‘Agora,’ even in those same countries.Many Christian professionals, not wanting to serve as traditional, donor-supported missionaries, are taking advantage of these opportunities and are reaching out to mission agencies for assistance.The author investigated, through interviews with agency leaders in Canada, their perspectives regarding professionals’ readiness for cross-cultural, Christian witness in the Agora, and regarding the roles that the Agency, Assembly, and Academy might have in any equipping them for that. Two primary, broad, necessary characteristics of professionals are spiritual maturity and cultural awareness. Two means of developing these are experience and discipleship. Experience is needed in their professional field, cross-cultural interaction, and Christian ministry; discipleship is needed to integrate good theology into one’s life, work and ministry.This project proposes a model for multi-faceted experience and integrated discipleship that moves professionals from self-awareness to Christ-like wholeness, and from cultural awareness to wise missiology. This project defines a biblically-rooted, contextually- and culturally-appropriate framework for training believers from Muslim background (BMB) leaders in an Arab context. The framework uses adult education (andragogy) principles from Bloom, Knowles, and Kolb that contribute to deep learning. Principles are evaluated using Hofstede's Arabic cluster cultural dimensions (Power Distance Index, Uncertainty Avoidance Index, Collectivism) and GLOBE leadership traits. This project defines cultural and contextual educational principles that put the design and implementation of developing and training leaders into the hands of BMB leaders.The author believes it is important to hear from local leaders. The coalescence of cultural educational principles with the practical experience of local leaders allows for a practical educational framework. North African leaders were interviewed to discover how God developed them as leaders. The results reveal the importance of character, teaching, practical experience, and community with a mentor playing a significant role. This project anticipates that proper discipleship training for future pastors and church planters in Bible schools will significantly influence discipleship activity in the church. This study seeks to understand the nature of Biblical discipleship and develop a workbook coursepack to teach final year Bible college students. In order to understand the effectiveness of the discipleship course during the final year of Bible college studies on discipleship activities in the initial year of church ministry, a one-week intensive discipleship course was taught to a total of forty-five final year students from two different Bible colleges. A pre-test evaluation was conducted prior to the discipleship course, and post-test evaluation was conducted six months after graduation. This study brought into focus several truths. Comparison of the pre-test and post-test responses revealed that a discipleship course during the final year of Bible College education would positively influence students in discipleship activities in ministry level. Confidence level in getting involved in discipleship activities also exponentially increased because of the training. Overall understanding and awareness of the topic also greatly increased. Epistles of Paul"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Although independent Baptist pastoral training institutions have served the Spanish-speaking church in Latin America for decades, most have become stagnated in academic development and institutional advancement.  The purpose of this study was to develop a strategic plan that will encourage these institutions to pursue an accreditation model.  This study identified five impediments to this pursuit. 1.         Insufficient academic preparation of professors2.         Excessive government restrictions3.         Poor economic situation in country4.         Lack of interest/Lack of knowledge of benefits5.         Low academic level of studentsThis quantitative data was obtained through a Delphi survey of twenty-two individuals from three distinct subgroups: (1) Independent Baptist missionaries actively involved in pastoral training in Spanish-speaking Latin America, (2) Independent Baptist Hispanic pastors or professors who were trained in Latin America and who retain involvement in this ministry, and (3) Independent Baptist theological educators who have experience with the accreditation process.  Through the Delphi survey the participants suggested the above-mentioned impediments to the pursuit of an accreditation model.  The Delphi expert panel also provided qualitative data by sharing additional insight into the nature of the impediments through comments made within the survey and personal conversations with the author.Once the five impediments had been identified a Delphi support team worked with the author to develop a strategic plan to address each impediment.  Specific goals were set, and action steps were identified. Various literatures are reviewed to gain deeper understanding on historical, biblical, missiological, cultural and educational perspectives. This qualitative research is conducted by using a descriptive, inductive research methodology and involved interviews of China Evangelical Seminary missionary alumni. Alternative approaches to traditional theological education are necessary to close the gap between the classroom and the church.  The author surveyed students who attended the Canadian Pentecostal Seminary with its alternative approach to theological education and ministry training.  His findings indicated that CPS was strong in the area of traditional knowledge, but weaker in the areas of practical skills development and spiritual formation. The need for this school prompted the author of this project to begin such a school, with the help of a church in Kamloops.  This was accomplished by assessing the desire for such an institution from potential students by means of a questionnaire that was sent to churches in and around Kamloops.  The district officials were also polled and when the results were evaluated, the serious planning for the opening of the school went forward.  The school opened and had twenty students initially signed up.  The first class was taught and the project ended at that point, even though other classes were planned.  There is an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the project.
