Our current century has experienced a dramatic change in lifestyle, resulting in a dearth of births and a noticeable increase in longevity in the life of seniors.  The demographic change has institutions within society struggling to cope with possible solutions.  The local church in particular has experienced an aging congregation which of necessity demands restructuring in programs.  The author, himself a senior, has researched statistics, church policies, and interviewed church leaders that have prepared for the change. It attempts to determine whether a better system of pastoral care for pastors might minimize instances of negative transition and related pastoral problems.  The study includes a survey of relevant biblical passages and a fairly extensive literature review.  The field work surveys a representation of solo and senior pastors, district superintendents, and denominational leaders. A review of literature in postmodern and emerging church ministry, in communication and learning theory, and in contemporary homiletics is compared with biblical evidence about the roles and purposes of illustrations in preaching.  A survey of pastors is conducted to discover homiletical, technical, and theological guidelines for the use of video clips in sermons. The orders are provided in the Holy Scriptures, and every local congregation needs to know from God's Word why they exist and what they are attempting to accomplish.  With the goal of developing a ministry plan for Fellowship Church of Carol Stream, Illinois, a dozen nearby churches were examined for ministry effectiveness utilizing the collecting and analysis of anonymous congregational surveys.
