The outcome was to equip believers to confidently share the reality, reliance, and relevance of Jesus Christ in their sphere of influence in the evolving pluralistic landscape of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. This project considers how Sportvereine ('sport clubs') offer a promising gospel outreach ministry through community partnership and social networking. Could this gap be bridged? Survey findings revealed common obstacles; however, Kid's Games, Sola and Elebniscamp Kirche und Sport represented three separate models that met with a modicum of success closing the 'sacred-secular' gap. This was accomplished operating from a values-based platform. Modifying Neil Cole's model, this six month project sought to develop spiritual leaders who moved beyond attractional methodology to a missional approach. Transformational discipleship, organic church life, decentralized leadership and missional movement were utilized to achieve a healthy and reproducing ministry. The overall design of the project was to create a climate and ecology that would be conductive for spiritual growth and whole person transformation into Christlikeness. The design included a qualitative approach, incorporating three macro environments: a sermon series on Christlikeness; an interactive guide; and small group gatherings. To capture the lived experience, in-depth phenomenological interviews were used. The project started with presentations of biblical and theological perspectives on preaching in relation to life situations and historical and sociological perspectives on Korean immigrants in parallel to biblical and other immigrants. The project continued with a survey conducted on a typical Korean immigrant congregation to reveal how sermons influence them and change their perception of what is going on in their lives. The project also included manuscripts of sermons delivered to the congregation during this process. The conclusion of the project was to display the value of sermons that seek to change lives as well as the importance of the faithfulness and humility of the preachers to the Word of God. Study of the Bible, missiological practice, and the Japanese context via surveys and interviews with Japanese pastors indicated that it is a biblically, missiologically, and culturally valid and sound approach for ministry in Japan. A training manual for pastors and elders of DCU Kampala cluster of churches was developed following an investigation of Scripture and a literature review on pertinent subjects. Contextualization was attempted by integrating Ugandan stories, illustrations, case studies, examples, words, figures of speech, and cultural values and norms into the training materials and the implementation process, without compromising the precedence of Scripture. Lead pastors were challenged to design and implement a 52-week program for transforming their congregations and to do so under the mentorship of the author for the first six months. Questionnaires were used to evaluate the training materials and mentoring period. Results show that the trainees acquired valuable knowledge and skills, were motivated and challenged, and, in some cases, felt that they were given a fresh lease of life.
