Researching the history, polity, and membership statistics of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, the observation is made that certain ecclesiastical procedures hinder, rather than facilitate, each congregation's fulfillment of this mission. Theological critique establishes the case for taking a new approach in order to effectively make disciples of all nations.  A church growth consultation is conducted in a local Christian Reformed congregation, using, in small groups, materials based on the planning cycle.  Although modest results are realized, it is observed that even the best plans, methods, and strategies depend upon prayer and the blessing of God. He has been involved in taking a group of his students twice and began to see their lives greatly changed. Second, a primary quantitative analysis of the 16 most popular texts is performed by using a 'Homiletical Scorecard' with 261 headings. Miracles are not denied; but, miraculous gifts are refuted for the post-apostolic church upon biblical grounds.  Great care must be taken in verifying alleged miracles. The first section is biblical theology, a survey of leadership models in the Scripture, with a view to discerning the ways God has used men and women in the biblical history to give leadership to his people.  Implications for the role of the pastor are drawn from these, with the Old Testament 'man of God' and Jesus' 'servant' and 'shepherd' models emerging as formative. Most church planting ministries seek to establish mature churches that are autonomous. However, some are maintaining a relationship with daughter churches, exercising control over them as 'one church meeting in several locations'.  This phenomenon has been called a branch church or satellite church ministry.  This project examines the ministries of three influential Baptist churches that are involved in satellite church ministry. This is intriguing in the light of Baptist polity and the missiological principle of indigeneity.  The project is an attempt to discern the extent to which this method of ministry is transferrable for larger churches with metropolitan ministries.  Is it possible that the unity of a particular church may be maintained though the church meets in multiple locations?
