The programs were designed to create a sense of understanding, compassion and desire to reach out to victims. This qualitative study used pre- and post-survey data, community events, workshops and designed worship services to increase the awareness of the virus. It was designed to help congregations and their communities determine their unique ministry callings. Discovery process methods included Bible study, interviews, individual and group assessments, observer-monitor sheets and a list of possible health ministry ideas. The four tested congregations exhibited greater interest in faith and health. These congregations determined the most prevalent congregational diseases, stressors, and some previously unknown health issues.
