The purpose of the research was to develop a five-week, small program to facilitate a healthy grief experience by teaching about the grief process and selected spiritual disciplines to integrate the participants back into the community of the church. The researcher involved the children in activities such as praying, singing, liturgical dancing, journaling and crafts, using the pro-active research method.  This method seeks transformation while conducting qualitative research.  The researcher found that children who participated in grief activities involving prayer and worship were more responsive than those who participated in recreational activities alone. The study incorporates adult processes of assessment, treatment, and evaluation in parallel to child processes of naming, playing, and healing during a death experience.
