It was hypothesized that increased accessibility to the Christian message of hope via media would produce acknowledgeable and measurable changes within the impoverished residents. Mixed methods of research employing quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews in pretest and posttest formats, data from archives, literature reviews, online sources and printed materials were used to measure results. One finding was a grave mistrust for the Church, but a great desire for Christ. The project's objective was to present a model for the church to lead efforts to reduce health disparities in underserved communities through collaborations with government and private organizations. Qualitative research was conducted to assess needs and measure project effectiveness, using surveys and interviews. This effort increased health education, outreach, awareness, and identified support resources within the community. My proposal involved pre-testing subjects to determine their level of knowledge regarding health care issues.  Subsequently, the study conducted a series of seminars designed to increase the participants' knowledge on issues of health care.  Following those seminars, the study evaluated its results by post-testing the participants to determine the extent of acquired knowledge. Eight African American women attended two health workshops and studied daily with the Fruit of the Spirit devotional guide over a three-week period.  The participants complete pre- and post-workshop questionnaires to determine any changes in their health and spiritual views after completing the program. The knowledge of medical and spiritual health of the women increased after the program. Two new committees were established, a process was developed, and a manual written to evaluate and implement new technologies.  The result was the successful implementation of many new technologies at GUMC. Through these points of identification individuals are challenged to reexamine their pasts, assess offenses committed, and resolve them through confession.
