Quantitative and qualitative research were used by sending questionnaires to all 409 women married to clergy in the West Virginia Annual Conference and talking to those who feel called. The research showed that women married to clergy are not struggling with the call into pastoral ministry more than others not married to clergy are. The researcher hypothesized that women in group therapy will heal more rapidly than those in individual counseling.  The results from therapy sessions held over a period of six months supported the researcher's hypothesis.  The researcher concluded that pastoral counseling with a focus on reframing techniques is more successful in group therapy. The author and ten women used two sections of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola to provide the framework for Christian decision making in developing such a process.  With Mary Magdalene as role model, they researched the needs of women through study, dialogue and personal experience and produced a written guide. They showed they could utilize their calling and masculine/feminine attributes to strengthen their personal ministries and marriage and involve the insights and awareness of laity in the context.  Couple ministry in historical and contemporary settings were researched.  Questionnaires were employed.  Parish laity assisted in producing a pamphlet describing clergy couples and their innovative ministries.
