The central hypothesis is that residential mobility is a major factor affecting patterns of membership and participation in mainline Protestant churches that is neglected by theorists in evangelism and church growth. Data was secured through a community survey of the adult population of Tipp City and Monroe Township, Ohio, and in-depth interviews with a random stratified sample of that population. An integrated learning model based upon these biblical concepts is tested by an ecumenical group of adults that confirms the thesis. This realization enhances self-esteem which in turn directs persons to the wholeness and joy of the Lord.  Participants, through a personal study of theology and psychology, were given the opportunity to integrate their insights into human life.  Each project associate had time for self-reflection and discovery so that they, as the church, could work intentionally at being an affirming body.  The author outlined this concept, termed 'affirmation', and its biblical, theological and psychological bases.  He reported the process of the project, as well as the results.  The project included contextual and biographical statements. They identified issues common to Hebrew and Kpelle cultures, and considered tribal elements such as proverbs, stories, idioms, and theology. A group of lay persons were involved in an educational process directed at learning about these needs.  Each lay person then was paired with one inner-city youth in order to develop a relationship. Throughout this project both groups were given surveys to determine if their involvement would produce changes in attitudes. The program shows that the involvement of lay persons with the youth changed the lay attitudes, if not their theology. Over a period of three weekends Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankan students shared experiences with host families and members of Cove Spring Church.  Participants experienced increased sensitivity, trust, respect, appreciation, willingness to risk, and reconciliation in this venture. It designed and tested a thirty-six hour workshop that helped eleven participants learn: 1) ways of identifying burnout; 2) what effects burnout can have on one's spiritual and physical conditions; and 3) ways clergy can equip themselves to cope with burnout and retain their effectiveness as ministers.  The project developed three instruments: a Self-Evaluation Survey on Burnout; a Fatigue Factor Survey; and a Participant's Evaluation Form.  This process was successful in raising participants' consciousness about burnout.
