The church offers services to families across these areas. This case study compares the number of services used by mentored families versus non mentored families, and any reported changes in mentored families behavior and status. The project data suggests the connection of a mentor with the family increases involvement in both secular and Christian activities. The mentored families participating in Christian activities showed positive behavioral change. To answer the research questions, qualitative research methods were used, specifically methodological triangulation: a questionnaire was disseminated to one group, and interviews were conducted with two other groups of prayer ministers. The instruments were developed for data collection. A pilot study was conducted ensuring reliability and validity; adjustments were made accordingly. Smithfield Baptist Church located in Gloucester, Virginia served as the context for this project. The researcher hypothesized that the freedom of worship and the availability of relevant ministry opportunities would provoke an attitudinal change in the current parishioner, as well as increase church participation and growth. A mixed methodological approach was used to measure the project's effectiveness including focus groups, pre and post survey questionnaires, workshop questionnaires, and workshop evaluations.
