The multi-dimensional qualitative research process was grounded in solid understandings gleaned from within the Christian tradition with respect to theological, biblical, historical and psychological disciplines. Basic assumptions examined included spirituality of children, blessing, holiness, worship, prayer, community, holy listening and Sabbath. The research data was gathered from children, through observations, artwork and writing exercises, and through written and oral interviews with teachers, parents and observers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128454149701632,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:00:04.106Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:00:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"65452dd3-d347-43df-be48-2fca62afdeb8","accessControl_ssim":["db086a05-e2e2-4c64-8521-e5ac9989a499"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Telling God's stories with power: biblical storytelling in oral cultures"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:05:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["31960c3d-b544-4ac2-8dff-986efb0d1ec1"],"hasLease_ssim":["b05a9074-bab0-4dcb-b750-30e5f78d5238"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Thomas E Boomershine"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul F Koehler"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Learning","Evangelistic work","Bible--Homiletic use","Storytelling--Religious aspects--Christianity","Missions","Oral communication"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The learning style of oral communicators differs in many ways from that of print learners. Yet, most Christian workers still use literate methods even when working in oral contexts. This research focuses on biblical storytelling among oral learners. The primary research strategy was the multiplication of storytellers through intentional training and the collection of verbatim reports of their field experiences. Storytelling was found to be superior for knowledge transfer and for bypassing resistance to the gospel, and consequently more than 200 new congregations were planted. This thesis presents clear evidence of the effectiveness of biblical storytelling among oral learners."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128477344202752,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:00:26.227Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:18:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c52fd920-d141-4e78-8a89-b013bb40e911","accessControl_ssim":["edd06017-a1c8-4bf1-8799-74752cd9ebf3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Children in worship: the body of Christ; living our worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:47:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["08d4eddf-b1ef-4eda-a6e0-4c39cf085244"],"hasLease_ssim":["0fc5f6c7-22d2-4746-b1d4-0d592fd7e4cb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald B Rogers"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Arlys A Fogt"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Greene Street United Methodist Church (Piqua, Ohio)","Worship--Study and teaching","Children--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The focus of this ministry project was reclaiming worship as a multigenerational experience with children actively involved in the rituals and rites of the church. The goal was to improve the quality of 'spiritual' life of the participants through a primary focus of 'spiritual painting' accompanied by prayer, meditation, and Bible story reading. Most of the participants suffered from either or both mental and physical disability. Even though normal communication and activity participation was somewhat limited, meaningful qualitative and quantitative assessments were obtained. Results indicated positive trends in increased feelings of peace, joy, self-worth, focusing ability, pride and contentment for art
