The author measured the effectiveness of the process by conducting spiritual assessments throughout the study to see if the congregant felt that the visits improved their connection to their congregation and as a result of these visits felt better about life in general. Within the context of the congregation this writer serves, he sought to structure a conversation among young adults currently active within the church and those without through surveys and interviews. In a two-part study, an assimilation model for new member education was developed and the model was field tested in three ninety minute focus group sessions.  Although the participating churches focused primarily on administrative efficiency, there is interest and need for a new model. This project was designed and implemented to test the applicability of this method of lay involvement in ministry in a different context--the USA.  The results of this project obtained through questionnaire and personal interviews and supported by actual records demonstrated the applicability of this model in the USA.
